Code of conduct

Through long-standing collaboration with the mining industry in the North, JAMA has established itself as a world-leading manufacturer of machinery for international mining operations. Our innovative solutions combine safety, efficiency, and advanced engineering expertise, earning us patents and international recognition. While our core operations are in the Nordic region, we also serve a few select markets worldwide. As a responsible company, we are committed to sustainability, ethical practices, and strong community engagement. Together, we foster a culture of curiosity, inclusion, and dedication – for a safer and more sustainable mining industry.

In order to ensure a responsible behavior this code of conduct (the Code) will describe JAMA’s requirements on its customers, partners, and suppliers (as well as their sub-suppliers and partners). These requirements are based on the United Nations International Bill of Human Rights, the ILO Declaration on fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (ILO), and the United Nations Global Compact (GC)

We expect all employees, business partners and stakeholders to follow national and transnational laws and regulations in all aspects as it applies to them, as we do. We also expect all our employees, business partners, suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders to have the same commitment to the Code.

We do not tolerate:

  • Forced or involuntary labor in any form. This includes any work or service performed by a person under the threat of penalty and for which the person has not offered him- or herself voluntarily. It also prohibits business partners from requiring employees to deposit money or original documents such as passports, education certificates and the like, during their employment.
  • Child labor in any form. Business partners should take necessary preventive measures to ensure that they do not employ anyone below the legal age of employment. This means that unless local law stipulates a higher age limit, no person younger than the age for completing compulsory education or younger than fifteen (15), (or fourteen (14) where permitted by ILO convention No 138), may be employed. For authorized minors, management is responsible for providing the workings conditions, hours of work and wage appropriate for their age, and in compliance with applicable local laws as a minimum. The minimum age for hazardous work is 18 years.
  • Corruption, extortion, or bribery. We value integrity in all actions. We will not accept for our personal benefit goods or services of more than nominal value from suppliers, potential suppliers or other third parties. We will not offer any items of personal inducement to secure business. This is not intended to prohibit appropriate entertainment or the making of occasional gifts of minor value, unless the customer has a policy which restricts this. Business partners should not enter into discussions or agreements with competitors concerning pricing, market sharing, or other similar activities.
  • Violation of human rights. Business partners must support and respect the protection of human rights and be able to confirm that they are not complicit in human rights violations. If requested by JAMA, business partners who provide parts, products or raw materials that contain one or more ‘conflict minerals’1) and source from conflict-affected and high-risk countries must be willing to cooperate to conduct due diligence following the OECD due diligence guidelines.
  • Discrimination based in ethnicity, religion, gender, age, nationality, disability, personal relationship, union membership and/or political opinion. Business partners must support equal opportunities, fairness, and diversity and ensure that all employees are treated strictly according to their abilities and qualifications in any employment decisions.
  • Possession or distribution of illegal drugs. To ensure that JAMA is a safe workplace environment we do not allow employees to be under the influence of drugs on the premises at any time. Consumption of alcoholic beverages is only allowed after working hours, in a social setting, and previously approved by management.
